About Sue Stevens
Sue Stevens, BS, E-RYT 500, TCTSY-F, began practicing yoga in 2005 and has personally experienced the transformational and healing powers of yoga. After experiencing a number of profound and traumatic losses, including the death of her 16 year old son Ryan, she discovered yoga which became a huge part of her healing process. Sue specializes in yoga classes and workshops that emphasize emotional healing from trauma and grief and is the founder of Yoga Healing Grief.
Sue is highly experienced teaching yoga to adults in group and private classes, children and teens in public and private schools, active duty military and veterans, adults and at-risk youth in therapeutic settings, and in bereavement support group settings. As a certified TCTSY facilitator, she facilitates TCTSY private sessions and classes for adults, teens, and children at the Trauma Center at JRI – Pelham Academy in Lexington, Little Heroes Home in Dracut, Littleton Academy, Enlightened Interventions in Worcester, Wayside Trauma Intervention Services in Milford. Additionally she has taught at Community Healthlink Victims Services, McLean Fernside in Princeton, The Worcester Trauma Conferences, Veterans Inc., Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital, The Alternatives, Mercy Center, Yellow Ribbon events for active duty military and at the Worcester Trauma Conference. Sue has also provided Mindfulness and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga professional development workshops for schools; including Worcester Public Schools, Auburn School District, Brockton School District, and Miami Mindfulness; plus grief workshops at Hope Floats Wellness Center in Kingston, MA, the Compassionate Friends National Conference in Boston and Arizona, Heartwell Institute in Worcester, MA and other locations in Central Massachusetts.
Sue has trained extensively in numerous types of yoga methodologies. She is certified as a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator with intensive advanced training at the world renowned Trauma Center at JRI in Brookline, MA and is the only facilitator teaching in Central Massachusetts. Additionally, Sue is trained in Duke University Integrative Yoga for Seniors, Y12SR Yoga for Recovery, Chair Yoga, Children's Yoga, "Healer Within" Qigong, Meridian Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga,Yin Yoga, Yoga Warriors International™ , Mindful Self-Compassion, Reiki, Thai Yoga Bodywork, and is a graduate of the UMass Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR). In 2017, she completed the Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies at The Trauma Center at JRI.
